Black Sun Entertainment is a design and development studio focused on producing creative content for all areas of entertainment.  Founded in 2008, Black Sun’s first release was the eight time award-winning proof of concept short film AZUREUS RISING (www.azureusrising.com).  Black Sun’s primary focus is telling intriguing and exciting science fiction, fantasy, action, adventure, thriller and horror stories through film, animation and interactive mediums.

Director, DAVID WEINSTEIN

David Weinstein’s background in visual development, design and CG animation reflects his visionary approach to storytelling.  He has directed cinematic movies for Sony Computer Entertainment, Guerrilla Games, United Front Games, Sucker Punch Productions, Zipper Int and collaborated with clients Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Overbrook Entertainment, Walt Disney Pictures and Amblin Entertainment.

In 2010 David’s first short film, Azureus Rising, went on to become an internet sensation collecting more than 5 million combined views to date.  Azureus also earned him the Best Director Award from the Los Angeles International Film Festival as well as Best Short Film at the Hollyshorts Film Festival and Malibu Film Festival.  That same year, David was named to The Black List for Aspiring Filmmakers, a list of a dozen filmmakers to watch determined by Hollywood studio execs, producers and the like.

Having an eminent understanding of visual effects, motion capture, animation and virtual cinematography, David is able to marry that with real world digital filmmaking and his love for working with actors.  Please visit:   www.davidwfilms.com

Visual Effects Supervisor, ADAM COGGIN

Adam Coggin earned himself the title of CG Supervisor for the multi-award winning short-film Azureus Rising only one year after breaking into the highly competitive industry of visual effects. Adam went on to win Best Visuals at the 2010 Los Angeles International Film Festivals which earned him the cover of CG World magazine issue #132.

As a Lead Artist at Sony Computer Entertainment America, Adam contributed to 14 Triple-A PlayStation titles including the mega hit The Last of Us before entering the feature film industry and television industry. Some of Adam’s film credits include blockbusters such as Iron Man 3, Oz the Great and Powerful, Thor 2: The Dark World, Godzilla, and The Avengers.  For television his credits include The Last Ship, Agents of SHIELD, Gotham, Minority Report, and Westworld.

In 2016, Adam was nominated for an Emmy as well as completing his forth production as a Visual Effects Supervisor. Adam continues to look ahead and expand his knowledge of high-end film-making and seeks to push the boundaries of visual effects.  Please visit:   www.adamcoggin.com
